oldcrow wrote:Leviathan - Tentacles of Whorror
Bison B.C. - Quiet Earth
Tenhi - Maaet
Pelican - City of Echoes (expecting the new album to be much better)
Gorod - Neurotripsick (New album is in the mail and should be arriving at my door in the next few days. Expecting it to slay completely)
Deceased - Fearless Undead Machines

Aside: That new Mastodon wore out its welcome very quickly.

Bummer to hear that about Mastodon, but we tend to have oddly divergent tastes at times. The new Gorod, from what I've heard, is interesting--more explicitly technical like the older material.

Drove around a lot today hither and yon and spun:

Endstille - Verfuehrer (not super)
Darkane - Demonic Art (ditto)
Dalek - Abandoned Language (about half. Pretty identical beats, in terms of explicit tempo, but still pretty good)
While, like a ghastly rapid river,
Through the pale door
A hideous throng rush out forever
And laugh, but smile no more.

Pretty good. Maybe a bit heavy-handed, but rather immersive and altogether satisfying. Some really 'nice' passages, in the more traditional sense, and even a transistor radio solo. How about that.

Also been adding to that:

The Bad Plus - Give (Iron Man cover rocks)
Cynic - Traced in Air (got a nice version of this for 6 bucks)
Middian - Age Eternal (Good, but not AS good)
Sparks - Hello Young Lovers
Symphony X - V

YO!

Found my old collection of heavy metal goodness in my garage! I've been rotating all these on my zune after a long period of ripping the cds into my laptop:

Black Sabbath - S/T (Still one of the best albums ever! So doomy)
Vol. 4
Paranoid
Master of Reality
Sabotage
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Heaven and Hell
The Mob Rules

Judas Priest - Rocka Rolla
Sin After Sin
Sad Wings of Destiny
Stained Class
British Steel
Hell Bent For Leather
Screaming For Vengeance
Turbo
Defenders of Faith
Painkiller

Symphony X- The Divine Wings Of Tragedy
The Odyssey

And some rock n roll

Led Zeppelin - I, II, III, IV
House of the Holy
Physical Grafitti (love this album)

Ah, feeling really nostalgic right now. Good feeling indeed.

All I've been listening to at work is Botch and Meshuggah. We listen to enough Priest...
We did rock a mix CD my boss had of Down and Manowar the other day, though.

The Chasm - Farseeing The Paranormal Abysm (another epic journey from these guys)
Symphonies Of The Planets - Recordings from Voyager (completely mesmerizing and so damn inspiring)
Mournful Congregation - The Dawning of Mournful Hymns
Skepticism - Stormcrowfleet
Funeral - Tristesse

I don't know whether we really need much more extreme doom besides the three bands mentioned above and maybe Thergothon too.

Darkthrone is certainly not a nazi-band nor a political band, those of you who still might think so, you can lick mother mary's asshole in eternity.
